It goes without saying we went through a few scenario options knowing that when the day came, Jamie + Brian were getting married no matter what the world was going to throw at them.
So I have to start by sharing their ceremony because I think there’s a sweet (maybe cheesy, but definitely sweet) piece to it – like any good planner I’ll remind you that rain on your wedding day is good luck, so when Jamie got to the altar, it began to storm like crazy outside – I mean, tornado-like winds and pounding rain that echoed through the space kind of storm. I’m not sure anyone in the front row could hear what all was said – and bare with me as I try to find the words, but it’s as if the extra noise from the storm was the friendly reminder that the outside noise in life doesn’t matter – it’s as if even though they had to make cuts to the once large guest list, they were reminded on that altar, it is about them. It’s about their vows to one another while honoring their faith and devotion.
I’ll be honest, this wedding pushed me creatively + I’m thankful for it. I know my overused word over the last year has been intimate, but turning a space that can hold 150+ into a sophisticated dinner and dance party for thirty-four guests is no small feat. And goodness, is it up there with my fave weddings ever now.
Add a 5 course meal by the amazing Johnny Haffner + one of the best bands I have ever heard for a wedding, Atlanta All Stars – and here we are again, looking like it was plan A all along.

kind words
“Where to begin? Sarah Oakland was without a doubt one of the best decisions we made when it came to wedding planning. We were so impressed with her steadiness and organization (in a pandemic, no less!) and it allowed us to relax more and enjoy the process and anticipation of marriage. In particular, her creative eye and floral designs were remarkable. To find a wedding planner who can ALSO provide stunning florals — was such a gift + financial savings. Truly don’t think twice and hire Sarah. You’ll love her services and find yourself wanting to be friends with her too.”
